DECK OF THE MONTH THE HUMBLE PINE COMES HOME, SA Pine generally is not considered to be a decking timber of choice, general opinion is that is believed to be a timber which will not stand up to the harsh South African climate. Tanalith® treatment entails that the pine is soaked in a chemical solution under high pressure to prevent dry rot and insect infestation. This auspicious deck built to extend the entertainment area of this Marina Da Gama home and create a conversation pit where many a tale will be told. The flower boxes double as hidden lighting giving the deck just the right ambiance at night without the light being overpowering. Note the floating steps adding a totally new dimension and depth to the deck. SA Pine was chosen for it's colour and durability but caution needs to be exercised as it is classed as a soft wood and the choice of SA Pine needs to be carefully considered.
